About this deal

Left: The print for the Mandalorian’s helmet included in this copy of 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser was a bit off… And on both what’s on the outside and the inside, 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser delivers. The unique, striking shape of the cruiser is perfectly captured in proportions and detail around the exterior, thanks to a slight Technic-frame construct on the inside. The all-grey colour scheme works against highlighting the subtle angles that have been recreated in the model, but it all still comes together effectively at the end as the reason why your eye so easily accepts the authentic nature of what’s in front of you. In between the engines and the bridge is a mini hangar that holds a microscale TIE Fighter. Two TIEs are included, with space for one on each side. The included Grogu - the Child LEGO figure affectionately known as Baby Yoda, adds an emotional touch to solo or creative play with friends

They might look a bit large and the spring-loaded missile tails are a bit obtrusive to the overall design, but on the whole it doesn’t look too bad and adds quite a bit of playability. It’s definitely a bit disappointing that a ship this large has so little usable space, but that’s partially due to the design of the in-universe cruiser. Weapon and accessory elements include: The Mandalorian’s Amban phase-pulse blaster and spear, Moff Gideon’s darksaber, 2 thermal detonators and electrobinoculars to inspire creative play We saw four out of seven sets feature female characters; and 5 out of 25 characters as definite females, including one storm trooper.Starship features bridge that doubles as handle for flying, 2 rotating turrets and hatch to access cabin I will say, they don't all look the same, although, they are known to have remakes with newer designs. (Such as the TIE Fighter or X-Wing), but they do have similar colour schemes, so I understand where you are coming from. "

And, with the cover open, there’s enough space to recreate iconic scenes from the Mandalorian season finale! The side panels toward the front of the ship use studs-not-on-top techniques, which feature nice greebling. Two small cannons are mounted on either side, and the cannon barrels can be adjusted up and down. This figure is absolutely adorable overall, and captures the essence of Baby Yoda in a LEGO figure. It’s excellent that it comes in this set, as Grogu was the central character in the finale. Strangely, this mechanism may only be activated from inside the vessel which seems illogical. The button should definitely have been located on the exterior, perhaps underneath where the appearance is less important. Alternatively, the feature could have been abandoned altogether because it works poorly, launching the TIE Fighters an extremely short distance. However, this area is unfortunately inaccurate – in between each main thruster there should be two smaller thrusters, and as such the design of this rear section does not match the in-universe ship. Nevertheless, I still like the look of this area, it’s just a shame the extra thrusters were omitted. Imperial Light Cruiser is probably most remarkable for the structural engineering that allows for such fluidity between the exterior of the model and what is, quite literally, a hollowed-out front-end to it. To achieve that without compromises elsewhere is worthy of particular note and appreciation.

That is not to criticise the design at all, because it offers the right detail that it needs to, both on the exterior at one scale and in the interior at another. Likewise, it is a model that doesn’t need to be any bigger in size. There’s enough space and features inside to recreate all the story so far seen from The Mandalorian, while the outside sits at a perfect balance between size and detail on show. In many ways, 75315 Imperial Light Cruiser is close to the limit of what it can be in functions, design and authenticity for the piece count and number of minifigures included. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the price, which stretches at least 30% beyond that same limit. Unfortunately, that shoulder armour obstructs the Dark Trooper's blaster rifle, so another rifle would have been appreciated instead. The armour can be removed though, revealing exactly the same design underneath. Additionally, the Dark Trooper's head features remarkable detail and I can imagine this component proving useful for fantasy creations. Events aboard Moff Gideon's cruiser are centred around Grogu and this diminutive character has remained unchanged since 75292 The Razor Crest was released. The rubber head looks absolutely adorable, as expected, while the Child's heavy robe is represented by the standard baby component. This seems reasonable, but I think introducing another unique element here would have been worthwhile. Thankfully, there aren’t too many strange colors that stand out, which is often a problem that plagues large LEGO Star Wars ships. The only ones that look a bit out of place are the blue Technic pins on the side walls. The figure can be attached via a stud at the bottom, while the hands are bars so it has a couple attachment points. The first figure included is The Mandalorian himself, Din Djarin. This figure is no longer new now, having appeared in around 6 sets, but it’s still an excellent figure. He is armed with his blaster rifle and a beskar spear. Stormtroopers provide limited threat to opponents of the Galactic Empire. Gideon's scientists have accordingly developed the Dark Trooper combat droid and this minifigure looks brilliant, recreating the menace of these characters onscreen. The new helmet component, which slots over a decorated minifigure head, includes spectacular textured detail and achieves complete accuracy when compared with the source material. Here’s what the TIE looks like when it’s inside the hangar at the front. Unfortunately it’s not attached with any studs, so if you move the cruiser around too much the TIE can fall out.
