About this deal

You will need a copy of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness Rulebook and either the Liber Astartes: Loyalist Legiones Astartes Army Book or Liber Hereticus: Traitor Legiones Astartes Army Book to make full use of this model. The Mark IIc replaces the turret-mounted twin-linked bolters of the Mark Ic that were slaved to the target-logis systems of the vehicle's Machine Spirit with a pintle-mounted Combi-bolter, much like the Mars Pattern Rhino. An ancient pict-capture of a Deimos Rhino of the World Eaters Legion during the Istvaan III Atrocity With that being said, I also think the hypothetical performance of Deimos rhinos versus Mars pattern rhinos is negligible as far as I can tell(per the stats and fluff I have seen). In terms of preference of one over the other, that means it would have been reduced to a basic question of logistics and maintenance as far as the "perfection" element goes. There simply isn't a technical advantage of observable significance that makes one dominant in terms of performing the allotted task or preferable to the other on those grounds. To me that sums up the technical and philosophical issue in gist and would imply that the Mars pattern was the more likely choice, or at least it was every bit as likely a choice, from that perspective or angle. If the Tactical Doctrine was active for your army during the previous battle round, you can change it so that the Assault Doctrine is now active. These weapon options were also available to the Mars Pattern Rhinos used at the time, but would eventually fall out of use. I think the main factor is purely aesthetics. Having different patterns for power armour and vehicles helps giving the Heresy its own aesthetics, and some HH collectors were drawn into it (including me) precisely because of these changes. Actually, some of the armour patterns and vehicles grew on me even though at first they did not catch my attention, and on the other side the usual 40k patterns became a bit "boring" for me. The most common pattern of the Deimos Rhino is the Mark Ic, which was one of the last iterations of the Deimos Pattern Rhino chassis to be mass-produced for use by the Space Marine Legions during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy. Most of this kit is the same basic build as the Deimos Pattern Rhino. If you’ve built one of those, much of the early part of this will be identical, with the exception of the door pieces being replaced by the mounts for the sponsons. Those pieces come from one of the three frames specific to this kit:Third War for Armageddon - Many Space Marine Chapters deployed Rhinos during the Third War for Armageddon against the Orks of Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka. The Deimos Rhino, also known as the Deimos Pattern Rhino, is a variant pattern of the Rhino armoured personnel carrier (APC) used by the Imperium of Mankind's military forces.

Chaos Rhinos can also be armed with a Havoc Missile Launcher, an ancient weapon system that has long fallen out of use in the Imperium. Chaos Rhinos can also be equipped with Destroyer Blades, Dirge Casters, Dozer Blades, Extra Armour Plating, Chaos Icons or Marks, or Warpflame Gargoyles. They may also be possessed by a daemon, or have been bestowed with other "gifts" of the Chaos Gods. The earliest known use of the Rhino in combat is recorded in the ancient Liber Armorum. According to this document, it was first used in combat by the human colonists of Torben's World against unknown indigenous xenos creatures who possessed only a primitive technological level. When the Adeptus Astartes fight, they employ a set of combat doctrines to eliminate the enemy. After pounding the foe with heavy weapons, warriors advance to lay down a hail of bolter fire before charging forth with chainswords roaring to finish the foe.If every unit from your army has the ADEPTUS ASTARTES keyword (excluding AGENT OF THE IMPERIUM and UNALIGNED units), this unit gains a bonus (see below) depending on which Combat Doctrine is active for your army. During the first battle round, the Devastator Doctrine is active for your army. From the second battle round onwards, at the start of the battle round, you can change which Combat Doctrine is active for your army, as follows: Armoured vehicles are a mainstay of the Age of Darkness, and many of its most iconic tanks now return to Forge World having reaped the benefits of brand new plastic components. The Rhino Primaris can transport 6 Astartes into combat.

The Mark Ib is no longer constructed in the 41 st Millennium, as these vehicles are viewed as being past their prime, but are still maintained or sometimes even used by many Astartes Chapters as a sign of respect for tradition. About land raiders, I'm not sure whether the mkIIb pattern is officially the 30k pattern, so I think it is reasonable to use the plastic kit as is (although I am actually converting mine to mkIIb because I personally think it fits better). Moreover, most other heresy vehicles are exclusively available through FW unless you make heavy conversion work, so it is probably not so much of an issue. The forces of Chaos deeply enjoy looting and corrupting Imperial vehicles, and since Rhinos are easy to repair, they are favoured prizes. The Rhinos under the control of Chaos Space Marine warbands are usually armed with either Pintle-mounted, twin-linked Combi-Bolters or other Combi-Weapons. Rhinos in use by Chaos and Renegade warbands that have recently betrayed the Imperium, or recently captured Imperial Rhinos, may be armed instead with a Storm Bolter or even a Hunter-Killer Missile Launcher.Chaos Rhino • Chaos Predator • Infernal Relic Predator • Chaos Vindicator • Chaos Land Raider • Chaos Land Raider Proteus • Infernal Relic Land Raider Achilles • Land Raider Hades Diabolus • Relic Sicaran Battle Tank • Maulerfiend • Forgefiend • Defiler • Brass Scorpion • Blood Slaughterer • Blight Drone • Foetid Bloat-drone • Kytan • Plague Hulk • Venomcrawler • Myphitic Blight-hauler Codex Adeptus Astartes - Dark Angels (7th Edition) (Digital Edition), "Transports", "Battle and Reserve Companies", "Rhino (Datasheet)" Raid on Kastorel-Novem - The Ork klanz of the Death Skulls, Goffs, and Evil Sunz used captured Rhinos against the Raven Guard and other Imperial Forces who were invading the Ork world of Kastorel-Novem.
