About this deal

The absolute perfect starter set that comes in a box... there are several wonderful starter sets out there but this is going to set a new high as to what it provides." — OrcusDorkus. Be the first to hear our latest news and updates about the RuneQuest Starter Set and fine Chaosium games. Learn to play RuneQuestin the best way possible — by playing! The Battle of Dangerford is a single-player scenario designed to teach you the rules of the game as you play. Take on the role of Vasana as she joins her Sartarite brothers and sisters in an epic clash against the invading Lunar Empire. The Battle of Dangerford is a solo adventure for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha. It is a story of mythic adventure in Glorantha, Greg Stafford’s epic fantasy setting. It is designed to lead you through the basic rules of the game in a gradual and entertaining way. While RuneQuest adventures will most commonly be run with friends, this one is just for you.

The Starter Box succinctly explains these abilities while also laying out how a good mystery is constructed for these strange characters to solve. The character sheets fold out with gorgeous art detailing each character and their abilities. They are also dry-erase, allowing players to use them again and again to teach the game. The included starter adventure has players fighting a dragon on a space station, which is exactly what you want out of a game like this. I was honestly on the verge of walking away from RuneQuest Glorantha until I received this Starter Set. It has absolutely changed my understanding of the basic rules and setting to where I feel far more grounded and ready to take on Glorantha! I am now absolutely smitten with RuneQuest Glorantha as a direct result of the RuneQuest Starter Set. Once we get into the Magic chapter, things become quite shortened compared to the core rulebook. Only spells and rules needed by the adventurers are described, and everything else gets a hint or short write-up, nudging you to get the core rulebook if you want to know more. The material on the Spirit World and Shamanism is short, since neither the adventures of Book 4 nor the pre-generated adventurers would have much to do with it, but there’s enough to whet a new player’s appetite. I really appreciate that because these are some of the game elements that set RuneQuest and Glorantha apart for me. Book 2: The World of Glorantha If ‘A Rough Landing’ involved combat and action, then ‘A Fire in the Darkness’ is an investigation scenario. A rash of fires has broken out across Jonstown and everyone is on edge because they fear both arson and the possibility that any future fire cannot be contained and might spread across the city, raising parts of it to the ground. Like any investigation, this is quite detailed, involves a fair number of NPCs, and some clues to sort through and try and work out what is going on. Of course, there is more to mystery and the fires than meets the eye, but with care, some stealth in places, and even some diplomacy, the adventurers should be able to learn what is going on. This is a nicely done investigation which should take several sessions to play out and which should prove interesting to play depending upon the Player Characters’ Passions and the cults they belong to.If you've wanted to try out RuneQuest, this is the product for you. If you're a GM wanting to get into something more about a deep, profound spiritual world than killing monsters and taking their stuff, buy it." If only there were a single, streamlined product we could point new players to, a concise entry point that explained the rules, introduced the setting, and made it all effortless to learn and play. Something that showcased what makes this fantasy RPG unique. Last but not least is the set of seven bronze-colored polyhedral dice. The dice themselves are nothing special—the type often bought in bulk for cheap. That doesn’t make them bad, just not premier quality. But having said that, they do have decent weight and feel about them, and they roll well enough. Final Thoughts Come and get your skittermander Starfinder's boxed set includes the RPG's basic rules, as well as things like maps, pawns and other accessories to get you started. Image: Paizo The adventure was specifically written for Vasana, but the other pre-generated adventurers may be substituted.

Dice and the rules of the game determine the success or failure for your character’s actions—all while you are propelled into epic and adventurous situations! The emphasis is on having fun. Impressive. Most impressive. All three of Fantasy Flight's Star Wars RPGs - Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny - have boxed sets for young padawans. The Starter Set for Free League Publishing’s take on The One Ring RPG takes advantage of its Middle-earth setting by focusing on hobbits and their home base. As outlined in my initial Design Diary post, we had several main goals with the RuneQuest Starter Set. Firstand foremost was to make it a wholly accessible product for newcomers to RuneQuest and the world of Glorantha. But another important goal is to make sure the Starter Set also has value to our already-established player base. Too many starter sets are throwaway items or are of no use to veteran players. Not this one! Dice – Also included is a set of seven high-quality gaming dice, containing all the ones used in RuneQuest.
