About this deal

Stephen Millar and his team have produced excellent walks all over London with masses of information and very good photos( by the author). Best at sunrise or twilight, when the sun reflects on the water and all the houseboats are illuminated. Yet, the truth is, these little slices of hidden London are often far more fascinating than the well-known, and well trodden, tourist destinations, and seeking them out can be a truly thrilling and rewarding experience.

Wind into Parkland Walk, a former railway line that is now a haven for wildlife, and a great wooded area in London for dog walking. Your details will only be used by the Museum and suppliers working on our behalf and you can unsubscribe at any time. For example, how many times have you walked out of St Paul's Underground Station, en route to either your office in Paternoster Square or on Ludgate Hill, or bound for the Cathedral itself?I will certainly recommend a physical copy rather than a digital one as this just didn’t work well for me on the kindle and there’s no way to flip back and forth so easily to the maps as you can with your hands. Each of the walks is interesting though and I do like how some places are mentioned where you can stop for refreshments. Amazing how we could be on a busy street, turn up a little lane that’s almost invisible, and find a hidden treasure that the average tourist would never notice.

It is part of the ‘Explore London’ pocket series that has established a niche for Metro in recent years. Receiving no public funding, the RA depends on the continuing generosity of our supporters and Friends. This walk – though it takes several necessary detours off the towpath – is known as one of the most beautiful stretches of waterway in England. London's Hidden Walks Volume 4 is packed with interesting details about London’s history with both personal tales of those who wandered the same streets in former years and a more general social and economic history of the different areas covered. Following any of the 12 walks featured in each book will allow you to walk in the footsteps of authors and statesmen, murderers and revolutionaries.

Each stage of the walk is described, from where to turn, which road to take and even exactly what buildings and things to look at to get the most out of the walk. Use it to plan a whole week of sightseeing, or just to find the story behind one of your favourite fixtures or buildings. Having been walking around London since the Blitz, I have over the years collected many “Walking Guides” but this 3 Volume guide is one of the best . Step off the beaten track, forget your usual walking route, and explore some of the best hidden walks in London instead!Find the pedestrian underpass beside Tesco, near Redriff Road and pass the former red swing bridge to reach Greenland Dock.
