About this deal

childhood friends (to enemies ish) to lovers is one of my all time favorite tropes and this was done absolutely perfectly.

As the story begins, we find out that when the mfc left all those years ago, she tried to get the mmc to leave his perfect family and go with her. I do better when people aren’t looking out for me because there’s nobody to disappoint when things go south. Their journey was paved with thorns and ugly storms, but they proved to us that together, they could conquer everything and find the road to happiness! For starters I kept having to flick back thinking I'd missed key parts of the story like how they were separated and then suddenly appeared in each others lives again. However, that all came to a halt, when she asked him to run away with her at sixteen and he said, no. Anyone that reads this story will tell you how different it is from other sports romance stories because it actually incorporates sports. This had some very heavy themes (please DM for trigger warnings), but she counter balances it with the football team’s antics, friendships and lots of steam.

Ivy is so sassy, she has a take no shit attitude, she does what she needs to do to get by in this book and is never once ashamed of being herself. I think the author tried to do far too much in one story and I was disappointed with her family coming back into it. and honestly i was just bored 😐 having said that i think the topic being discussed here is very important and I did feel for ivy but unfortunately i just didn’t like her enough. I’ve lived the last few years believing that there aren’t such things as regrets because every decision made, no matter the outcome, is a lesson learned.

At age 16, Ivy runs away from a home where she feels no longer welcome, where her parents struggle with financial issues, where the cops are a constant presence after her parents fight and her mother verbally abd emotionally abuses her. I may not agree with some of their justifications, especially with the heroine, but I grasped the true reasons behind their actions.
