About this deal

That’s why it heartens me to know that Paul teaches his continuous improvement principles to government. Learn how to operate with the maximum efficiency while creating a productive and positive environment in all that you do. It’s impossible not to sustain these basic lean principles because the entire organization meets every day in the daily meeting to review metrics, improvements, and everything else. Through a series of twists and turns, he discovered Lean and the Toyota Production System (TPS) which was instrumental in propelling FastCap as an example of Lean manufacturing and culture, followed by thousands of companies around the world.

Instead of focusing every lean tool and consultant on creating lean processes (which he had already tried, and it didn’t create a lean culture), Paul created an operating system that creates world-class problem solvers. FastCap launches approximately 20-30 innovative products per year and has won business of the year in 1999 and 2010. If you're looking for a simple introduction that will be easy to give to entry level staff, this is a good resource. This book teaches you how Lean is supposed to be seen and taken in your life, how Lean can be used as way to inspire people around you, how can you create a Lean culture inside of your workplace and so on.

Through photos of Paul’s Lean journey, we come to know the person, the process of being Lean, and the principles that change everything. Once you have experienced the vast benefits of Lean, you will crave it, want it, and do anything to get it. I am eager to see how the training translates this very manufacturing-oriented concept into something that makes sense in my human services organization.

Paul has been married to his wife Leanne since 1983 and they have 2 grown children, Andréa and Kolbe, who all work with him at FastCap. After listening to this book and hearing the energy and happiness that Paul has, I want nothing more than our team to enjoy coming to work and loving what the do and having fun doing it! Of course, since "LEAN is a Journey" (quote from Paul's first book), it's only obvious that Lean Travel be the next book written by Paul launching the Summer of 2016. In fact, as you learn to incorporate a Lean approach to your life, you will see that the more Lean thinking you have in your life, the more you will enjoy life. I've read and heard the Portuguese translation of this book and I was able to feel Paul's excitement and humility about Lean and how much it changed his life.
