About this deal

Read more about the condition Very Good: A book that has been read and does not look new, but is in excellent condition. The dog is question is small and disreputable and wedded to city life - think Discworld's Gaspode but without the brains. I've walked many different stretches of the Path over the years and it was a pleasure to read about the areas I knew, as well as the sections that were new to me, such as the parts in Dorset. I laughed out loud, perhaps because I've walked a long distance trail, or perhaps because I walk with a dog, or perhaps, this fella just has a humorous way of seeing things.

Boogie - flatulent, streetwise yet still lovable; Mark Wallington -the natural successor to Jerome K Jerome. The first story is a light-hearted travel tale of the author's walk round the Devon/Cornwall coastline, with an introduction to the inimitable Boogie, both right up my street. Although no great heights are reached, there is constant downhill and uphill along steep clifftop paths which frequently descend down to sea level.I’m currently doing a virtual walk along the South West Coast Path (I’ve just walked around the Lizard peninsular) and so have revisited The Salt Path, and read this as being topical to my virtual walk.

First they had to survive against all odds as they embarked on a heroic journey up hill and down dale, with rucksacks full of Kennomeat, along Britain's longest coastal footpath - from Somerset to Devon, from Cornwall to Dorset. It reads as a bit 'dated' but then that's also interesting, as it reminds me of how life was in England in the 70's (80's? A well written and humorous book about one man’s travels with an urban dog along the SW Coast Path, mostly living on Heinz soup and Kennomeat!THE BOOK Omnibus edition of Mark Wallington's two humour/travel classics featuring the much-loved Boogie. Gear talk: Pad-Pal, the world’s smallest and lightest electric pad inflator is getting smaller and lighter! Three Points of the Compass is not a particularly doggy type chap, nor is this book particularly well written.

This book was fab because of the humour and for Mark's honesty about the people he met along the way and the things he encountered. Not exactly as Mark had planned, however: this time his companion was to be the delectable Jennifer - but she was held up at the office, and when Boogie was dropped off at the kennels the other dogs complained. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. In the second story, the author and Boogie take a rowing boat along the Thames, from London to its source in the wilds of Wilts/Glos - also an enjoyable light read only slightly marred by the introduction of a repellent love interest!

At first glance 500 Mile Walkies may seem a little ephemeral and lacking in observational muscle, however the author had a perceptive eye for what mattered most and makes light of what must have, at times, been a demanding walk. This amount includes seller specified domestic postage charges as well as applicable international postage, dispatch, and other fees.
