About this deal

For me, one of the highlights was all the incredible heart-felt details that LaDelle put into both of their backstories. LaDelle’s method of storytelling is so honest and genuine; you truly fall in love with these characters and can’t help but root for them. a beautifully written novel that gives readers intimate first-person perspectives of both protagonists. This book contains a wonderful romance that centers open communication and regular check-ins with boundaries. We didn’t see growth from that side friend—just an entire book of him being a douche and a last minute switch during the resolution.

When Prince and Dani meet, sparks fly but Dani doesn't want to get distracted- so she gives Prince only three dates to convince her he's worth falling for. I really commend Danielle and Prince for their maturity and the way that they dated and got to know each other. After all, at seventeen, he has his own segment on Detroit’s popular hip-hop show, Love Radio, where he dishes out advice to the brokenhearted.

Thank you to the author, Simon and Schuster Children’s Publishing, and NetGalley for an advanced copy such that I could share my honest opinions. Dani is struggling to overcome an event that happened, the catalyst that caused her to withdraw from her social life and all of her friendships. As the two spend more time together on the most adorable dates, they learn more about each other and themselves along the way. And even though there are a lot of heavy-hitting topics explored, there was also a lot of fun and humor in this as well.

I could be a little biased but the passions for writing, music, love, and psychology had me sold from the very beginning. I also loved how we learned so much about Prince’s and Danielle’s backstory, it gave them so much more depth which is another reason I was so attached to this story. They challenge each other’s preconceived notions such that both grow throughout the book due to their interactions with each other. She's focused on her plan to move to New York City to become a famous author, and avoiding dealing with what happened at that party a few months ago.Hitch meets The Sun Is Also a Star in this novel about a self-professed teen love doctor with a popular radio segment who believes he can get a girl who hates all things romance to fall in love with him in only three dates. This book also contains sweet dates and all the joy of falling in love, and I enjoyed the way these moments–the humour and the adorable romance–are more prominent than the pain. When I first read the summary of this book, I immediately added it to my TBR list because of the comps. Tenderly exploring trauma, passion, being a young carer, planning for your future and the power of both music and words, Love Radio is an adorable and heartfelt coming-of-age romance celebrating Black love. Also, they both had individual struggles with Dani struggling with what happened at a party on an unfortunate night and Prince having a mother suffering from MS with dad not in the picture.

From maintaining healthy friendships to letting go of toxic friends, a wide spectrum of friendship is depicted. And in the midst of it all is one funny girl, finding her way and forging the path for who she wants to be. I mean at what point do you accept that some people know the difference between rift and wrong and choose wrong out of boredom or because they believe they’re an exception to responsibility?Plus this book managed to so cute and wholesome, while also tackling a lot of really important topics. The way the author wrote this book, the stories of triumph, and navigating high school while battling various hardships was phenomenal.

You can read more about the issue of featuring BIPOC characters on book covers in this wonderful article.

Both of them had a lot going on and different struggles, but their development was done really well and i found myself rooting for both of them! I read this an ARC and everything in the ARC says: get it, share it, request it for your local library. They both had goals, and in spite of outside influences, they both were steadily working towards achieving the things they wanted. the two are in their senior year of high school, which of course comes with its own struggles, but they were each dealing with their own stuff, too, which made things harder.
