WE HAD gathered for pre-dinner bottles of Peroni, just to get us in the mood for our Italian evening, and scrolled a little apprehensively through VeroGusto’s menu. At Il vero gusto Italiano ltd, we are more than just a restaurant, we are a point of interest for food lovers. A comment from Ester later in the evening as we sipped coffee really brought everything full circle and was very touching I thought. This was our first visit to Verogusto and it most definitely won’t be our last, it was truly an amazing experience. We were up near the cathedral and spotted what was then Gusto Italiano, a cafe with the smell of the most amazing coffee wafting out through the door. It differs from other basil varieties for its medium-sized, light green leaves and for its sweet and delicate aroma, which alone can make the difference. Focaccia as a shared starter was excellent and the slow cooked shin of beef pasta was seriously good.
