About this deal

Again, these are tie-in comics, I'm not expecting anything huge, but all of the other stories we've gotten have at least been fun character pieces. Azula is a very interesting character and the state things are right now makes her even more intriguing and filled with potential so having, at the very least, one full comic about her seems like a huge treat. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. The spirit temple, as revealed by the beast inside, is supposed to invoke a Heel Realization and offer second chances to those who have made the wrong choices in life, but Azula believes apologies and redemption to be for the weak.

She continues forward and arrives to a cliff overlooking a forest clearing, where the Fire Warriors have set their camp. This incredible tale of survival and bravery in the face of overwhelming evil happened to a literal child. While former princess Azula has countless egregious sins to atone for, the world of Avatar is rife with redemption, like Fire Lord Zuko himself. I don’t mean they need to be killed, or literally made to vanish, but the Kemurikage as a concept needs to end. One of the Fire Warriors, Chiyou, attacks the guards and sends a fire blast at Ty Lee, who dodges it and chi blocks Chiyou. In conclusion, I don’t know what will make Azula in the Spirit Temple a good story, but I know what will make it a disappointing one. I think it was an interesting approach for her to face to face others while almost everything not being real.

It was originally planned to be released on September 26, but it was later delayed multiple times to November 1, 2023. Like the illustrations, the color work in “Azula in the Spirit Temple” really helps the comic feel like a proper part of the Avatar setting. You could argue that her lack of development is due to her own choices and refusal to recognize what she did was wrong which I could see but… come on, Azula deserves a Zuko level redemption arc! We also use them to help detect unauthorized access or activity that violate our terms of service, as well as to analyze site traffic and performance for our own site improvement efforts.Young Azula is kneeling on the floor and holding a burning turtle duck figurine, surrounded by broken pieces. In fact, this graphic novel serves as a great character study, showing Azula’s drives and fatal flaws. This is a thin little book so it’s hard for it make a major impression, but it’s a worthwhile journey spent in the tortured head of many’s favorite Avatar villain. Not only does it include Iroh, whom Azula has had next to no positive interactions with so far, but it also shows an unscarred Zuko, suggesting that Azula at least subconsciously has grown fond enough of him to recognize how messed up his abuse really was. The writing in "Azula in the Spirit Temple" is pretty dope for its authenticity, as it maintains Azula's character without overly explaining her motivations.

The graphic novel is written by Faith Erin Hicks with art by Peter Wartman and color by Adele Matera, who all worked together on the last few Avatar graphic novels like Suki, Alone, with lettering by ComicCraft’s Jimmy Betancourt.Like that we were actually friends, despite you threatening my life to force me to join your Avatar hunt. That’s not to say the action is bad, far from it—each individual panel looks like a fine example of the bending or chi blocking techniques we’ve seen from the characters, they’re framed nicely, and they’re properly dramatic.
