And for readers in the West Country: yes, there are pictures (actually, sorry, there are no pictures, but there's a book about a hungry caterpillar you'll love). It's also very funny - I listened to the audiobook read by Jimmy and I suspect this made it even funnier. Everything in it will not be for everyone (certainly wasn't for me), but if you can find one or two things that inspire you, that might be good enough I reckon. Fake it – pretending to be a better person than being a bad person or indistinguishable to the casual observer.

Reality is an illusion and feelings aren’t facts but the thing that messes is that the most facts that we don't learn from these ideas most of what happens to us isn't something that is 10% of what happens to us is the problem but 90% is how we respond to the problem and that’s what really matters. There are glimpses of Carr here as he touches on his relationship with his parents, shares the story of throwing in his corporate job at Shell to take a chance on comedy, offers a mea culpa for his ‘tax thing’, and speaks of his partner and child, but largely this is a book of advice on how to find your purpose and be true to yourself. To be honest they’re so rapid, it was sometimes difficult to reflect on them all and you might be too busy laughing. grāmatā bija daudz melnā humora, bet kopumā diezgan labs ieskats ne tikai autora paša dzīvē, bet tā, lai arī lasītājs/klausītājs top viedāks.I loathe self-help books, I judge people who read them to find solutions to their problems and I find them boring and utterly stupid, not that I have read many, or any. I ‘discovered’ Irish comedian Jimmy Carr when I stumbled upon the panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ on YouTube only a year or two ago. I know that is more or less the description advertised but nevertheless I wasn’t expecting so much of the preaching.

I didn’t like it at all at the start but eventually some of the humour came through and made it a more enjoyable read. Cheaper than Scientology, quicker than therapy and much less boring than church - this is the hugely funny and insightful book about happiness by top comedian Jimmy Carr, and anyone feeling stuck in a rut should devour it.I believe we’ve got two big adventures in life: the first is finding your purpose and the second is pursuing that purpose.

If you were in your mid 20s in the late 1990s, living with your family, no bills/mortgage and in a well paid job - would you say it was relatively easy or difficult to give up said job to pursue your dreams? When you're in your 20s all you ever do is think about what other people think about you, but when you're in your 40s you don't really care what they think about you and when you're in your 60s they don't you realise all along they weren't even thinking about you at all apparently attributed to Winston Churchill. Before making the move to streaming, Jimmy was one of the bestselling acts in the comedy DVD market, selling over 2 million copies.

It tells the story of Jimmy's life - the transformation from white-collar corporate drone to fake-toothed donkey-laugh plastic-haired comedy mannequin - while also explaining how to turn your own life around and become the you you've always dreamt of being. Now, picture a family gathering where I thought reading a few excerpts from the book would elevate the mood.

I didn’t really know what to expect going into this book, other than knowing it was going to be funny. Now Rickles knows everyone in the room is staring at Marilyn, so he waits a beat and says, ‘I thought I told you to wait in the truck. The unexpected bursts of laughter have turned me into the office jester, catching the eye of women who can't resist a man with a knack for unintentional comedy. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. From romantic misadventures to family fiascos and workplace woefulness, this book has turned me into a living punchline. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. This book tells the story of how Jimmy turned it around and got happy, through the redemptive power of dick jokes. During a critical presentation, the book's witty prose triggered an unexpected burst of laughter, causing my boss to question my commitment to professionalism. But predictably this book is funny and the fact that it's based on a real person's experiences and not just bullshitty abstract dos and don'ts makes it sound normal and readable.
