Description

The way in which this rebellion is undertaken involves social class in a most brilliant way. After being repeatedly raped by Karino, nearly being gang raped and being treated like a pariah of the lowest kind by almost becoming what his prostitute mother has urged him from childhood to avoid at all costs, Azusa is told by Karino that he does not even take the horrible things he does to him as seriously, it's all 'fun'; killing time until Karino goes out into society. Azusa then comes to realize that Karino is the heir to a conglomerate and decides to film their having sex so that he can expose Karino. It does not work but it marks the turnabout to Azusa's way of behaving, he now knows that Karino has a weakness resulting from his being in a position that demands respectability. In other words, 'real' life class, as assigned by society and with a material basis behind it, is the lever. At first, it was a bit confusing about who was the main character, and honestly, I really thought Azusa (the real MC) and Atsumu (his regular bully-victim) would get together. Colour me surprised when Azusa ends up with...his rapist?

I also like how this relationship ends unsurprisingly, there is no happy ending when one party is so burdened by the mediocre of the 'normal' world and the other party is so unstable over all, I have only read up to chapter 10 and feel like throwing up. there might be some good thing coming up at some point but honestly, its not worth the read. All this goes into presenting a world that is removed from reality by a much narrower margin than may at first seem. For this very reason and others, Caste Heaven is not a complete work of fantasy of the sadomasochistic kind in which boys delight in degrading other boys in increasingly sexually abusive manners (although it very much contains elements of that as well) a lá 飼育係・理伙 Shiiku Gakari Rika 1 . Instead, it is an interesting take in the ways roles are assigned by teenagers, how they adapt and/or fight against these and above all how power is a fluctuating commodity that can be shifted from one person to another with surprising ease once the system- and obedience to it- is set.

Things go terribly, terribly wrong for him when he misjudges one his followers: instead of bringing him the king card, Karino ends up handing him the lowest card, the joker while keeping the king for himself. That and raping him. What follows is Azusa's fall from grace as everyone he ever mistreated when he was on top gunning for him. The 'joker' is also 'the target', a position that is dreaded by all. Caste Heaven reminded me of that because as soon as the other students were given even the slightest bit of power over Azusa, they immediately began torturing him. They instantly became cruel, even those who had nothing to do with him, and they would do anything that Karino said to do, which leads me to why this reminded me of the Milgram experiment.

[10] No. So, the point of this series is that the previous King - Azusa - actually cheated. He had the Jester card last season and used his position of power as one of the Top Dog's of the school (the most popular kid, it's assumed) to get the weakest kid to swap cards with him. Atsumu actually found the King card and was bullied into trading. Thus, Azusa's power was re-affirmed.

Caste Heaven Chapter 1

The characters are generally all self-absorbed, unlikeable, bullies who don't care about anyone else. Trashy, amoral, sometimes slutty, selfish, egoist people. And they're all about to learn a valuable lesson, and there's always a part of humans who want to see shitty people brought down a peg or two. To see them have their ego stripped bare and be shown they're actually not that special. in the top 10. I couldn't find a reason. Yes, towards the end, there is humor and the characters fit each other in their own weird way...But still, that's no excuse to ignore RAPE!

Throughout this whole thing, the only things I could think of were the Stanford prison experiment and the Milgram experiment. Oh my god. Natalie (in Japanese). January 7, 2019. Archived from the original on April 11, 2020 . Retrieved April 10, 2020. The ending may seem sad for these two, but I don’t think it is. Simply twisted. What’s even more twisted was Yukari and Yatori’s story though… Yikes. I don’t even want to talk about them. Then the new King gives the all-clear for the ENTIRE class to have free-reign on Azusa, and a half dozen men chase him around the school and pin him down to try to rape him. There is also what seems like a rape in the bathroom, by the class loser, but is revealed after they're wearing clothes. But, still seriously F'd up. Seriously...what is with these straight guys being TOTALLY willing to rape another straight guy out of a power-trip?????? I give it a 9 because I really hate how some of the characters were built. But well, everybody makes mistakes. Just like the people that rate this poorly, it is fine, you made a mistake, but everybody does. For people who are here for the yaoi, I'll give you more of the specifics on that. I know that a lot of yaoi recently have been more on the abusive side of things, and I also know that people have been recognizing the problems about glamorizing/idealizing this kind of relationship. Unfortunately, this seems to be another one of that kind of yaoi. From this first chapter that's definitely how things seem to be going (and have already gone). Again we are in this highschool which has a strange secret hierarchy game going on among students, but this time the story focus on a side pairing instead of the protagonists (who are in a master/plaything relationship in this hierarchy game).

This asked some very deep questions, such as 'without my power, am I really this useless, this powerless?' This leads into my next point- why this reminded me of both the Stanford prison experiment and the Milgram experiment. BLUEに、次号は高野ひと深を特集". Natalie (in Japanese). April 25, 2017. Archived from the original on April 11, 2020 . Retrieved April 10, 2020. Kuze and Atsuma serve as loving counterpart to the savagery of Karino and Azusa; comparisons between the pair are quite interesting to draw. Arguably, in both cases a seme manipulates his uke. It makes me wonder what kind of story we would have if the pairing was Azusa/Atsuma. Because the story is so dark and twisted and no one says otherwise inside of it, it forces you to be that much emotionally involved.Yaoi is not typically my thing but I do read a few. Caste Heaven I say is unique from Yaoi's I've read before and it is definitely not for the faint heart. It's no sunshine and rainbows but instead twisted, yet it's rather interesting. Before reading the manga, better be sure your mind is ready and open. After that, it’s Azusa’s turn. The teacher asks him why he failed the test (as he didn’t score any points) and at this rate he’s in danger of flunking out. Azusa nonchalantly replies that he’s not interested in graduating from college. The teacher: “Society is not a piece of cake as you think” and Azusa: “I’d rather die than become an empty person who depends on a title. I won’t rely on anyone. I’ll live only on my own.“ Azusa has no longer hope of relying on anyone, not even on something like a degree because he has completely withdrawn, he doesn’t want anyone’s help to move forward. The teacher tells him to choose at least one of the supplementary classes, for the sake of his parents.
