The more exciting apps are a music player, photo editor, art studio, voice memo, music player, and video camera. The LeapPad 3 feels much lighter and is a fair bit smaller than the LeapPad Ultra, the only downside of the smaller size is that the screen is smaller, but it didn’t seem to bother the kids. This game helps learning letters by tracing letters, pronouncing letters, spelling words, word recognition and reading. Compact and kid-tough, the LeapPad3 tablet provides access to a 100% kid-perfect web experience and access to a library of 1,000+ age-appropriate, educator-approved* games, apps, eBooks, videos and more. Overall, despite the fact that this says it is for up to age 9 this is not great for older children.

The Voice Memo feature allows you to record upto 16 voice clips – each can be unto approximately 30 seconds long. This is very cool and allows children to chat via the app, if they both have a LeapPad with wifi connection and are in the same room. Built kid-tough and can handle being dropped, LeapPad3 is perfect for worry-free fun at home or on the go.

We are a Leap Frog family, owning many of their products – so I was excited to get our hands on the new LeapPad 3. There are hundreds of reading, writing and maths games available and it is a nice thought that your child is learning alongside being entertained.

We the LeapPad we received a Disney Frozen reading game (sold separately), which went down very well as my niece is a massive Frozen fan (like most 4 year olds).I loved playing the games almost as much as my toddler, as you get praised constantly when you complete a task! Older LeapPads needed four AA batteries but the LeapPad 3 comes with a built-in lithium ion battery, along with a USB cable and charger which I found convenient.
