Using a script or add-on that scans GameFAQs for box and screen images (such as an emulator front-end), while overloading our search engine So, PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360? The stakes are high. What we have is a title that pushes technical barriers in pursuit of an overall gameplay experience that is quite unique: tech deficiencies will impact the overall look and feel of the game. Bearing in mind the legion of technical accomplishments, surely something's got to give? Blur is a remarkable and singular technical achievement, especially in relation to what Bizarre Creations achieved with Project Gotham Racing 4 (still a great-looking game itself). The number of cars on-screen at any given point has increased, the amount of effects in play can be quite overwhelming, and overall image quality has been boosted too. Rowe, Brian (May 31, 2010). Issue 6356: A ghost image effect is present, which can be removed by enabling Asynchronus Texture Streaming, however this causes flashing white lights to appear throughout the game.

For Blur, the 360 version actually runs with 4x MSAA - the best the machine's hardware is realistically capable of delivering.

It Wouldn’t Be Racing Without Multiplayer – Blur offers gamers a new kind of racing experience that allows them to race with friends and as part of a network of players in high intensity competition and fun. The game supports competitive and cooperative gameplay, including team and objective based race events, and also features 4 player split-screen for playing with friends from the comfort of the couch. Blur also introduces Custom Groups – where anyone can create unique multiplayer modes based on their favorite ways to play the game. These new modes are then shared through Blur’s social network, expanding the game in ways only limited by the gaming community’s creativity. Social Network Interface – Blur’s new, innovative social network user interface is designed to evolve dynamically as players compete in different races, make new friends, rivals and fans, and connect with other racers both in game and in real life. Gamers interact with one another through messaging, trading opinions, challenges and images, and learn what’s going on in the Blur world, including locating where and when the next big races are happening, rallying their fans for support, and taking up challenges designed to suit their favorite racing style.Unfortunately they chose to embed State-endorsed social networking spyware features in the game, which is my only real complaint. I guess some people within the company decided that it would be a great way for people to get word out about the game on these filthy social networks. I detest them and I wish the code wasn't embedded in the game (even if I don't use the features). Oh well. Anyway, that might be a minor point.

Blur was released in May 2010. This review is written in April 2017, so it has been almost 7 years since the game was released. Despite the time that has passed, I have yet to see any racing game that comes close to the feeling I get from Blur, and I doubt I ever will. Gallegos, Anthony (May 25, 2010). "Blur Review (Xbox 360)". IGN. Ziff Davis. Archived from the original on May 28, 2010 . Retrieved April 6, 2023. There's a definite look and feel to a Bizarre Creations driving game. Artwork has a precise, correct, technically "right" look to it. There's a huge amount of attention-to-detail in making sure that every piece of art, every visual effect, fits into a particular type of super-refined CG aesthetic. That being the case, the inclusion of the full-on 4x MSAA complements the art perfectly: it adds to the refinement. It's the icing on the cake.
